Step 1: Train the bot on your content
- Create a free Askvo account. One chatbot on the Free plan, no card required.
- Paste your Ghost site's URL. The crawler reads your public posts and pages, pricing, FAQ, about, membership tiers, and builds the bot's knowledge base. Re-crawl after publishing.
- Add what's behind the paywall or off-site. Member-only content, a billing FAQ that lives elsewhere. Upload documents or add Q&A pairs directly; see how to train a chatbot on your own data.
- Test it in the dashboard first. Strict mode keeps answers grounded in your content and admits it when it doesn't know something.
Step 2: Get your embed snippet
Copy the snippet from your bot's install page in the Askvo dashboard. Match the widget color to your site theme, and on Business or Agency, decide whether to turn on lead capture.
Step 3: Paste it into Code Injection
- In Ghost Admin, go to Settings, then Advanced.
- Click Code injection.
- Paste the Askvo snippet into the Site Footer box, not Site Header. The footer box is meant for code that should run after the page loads.
- Click Save at the top right.

Step 4: Verify before you call it done
- Check the widget on your homepage and an individual post. Themes sometimes render posts differently from the homepage.
- Ask it a real question and confirm the answer streams in with a citation.
- Test "talk to a human" and confirm it reaches your Askvo dashboard for live takeover.
- Ask something it can't know, like a member's specific billing status, and confirm it declines instead of guessing.
Keeping answers accurate as your content changes
Re-crawl after publishing new posts or updating pricing/membership pages. Check the Unanswered Questions report regularly. Does this work with Ghost's membership and subscription features?
The widget itself is independent of Ghost's membership system. It answers questions from your public content. For member-specific billing questions, add general policy answers as Q&A pairs and route anything account-specific to "talk to a human."

Do I need Ghost(Pro), or does this work self-hosted too?
